Are you staying cool, calm, and collected during peak summer season in Arizona? Need a little help. At Integrated Pain Consultants, we have your back—especially if you’re suffering from spinal issues like fibrotic adhesions or restriction.

There’s only so much we can do about the coolness factor, although we do keep our office perfectly chilled for your comfort. But when it comes to calm and collected, we have two exciting additions to the clinic that we’d like to share with you!

MUA: Manipulation Under Anesthesia Means Immediate Relief

No, we’re not adding a make-up artist to the team. That’s a different type of MUA. We’re always adding the latest, most effective technology to our suite of tools, and Manipulation Under Anesthesia is our latest addition.

MUA is one of the best ways to alter fibrotic adhesions and restriction, both in the spine and extremities. Patients enjoy immediate relief, better movement, and can work towards stabilizing and strengthening the areas that are causing pain and dysfunction. The best candidates for MUA are those with frozen shoulders, bulging or herniated discs, or extremity injuries with radicular pain (with or without related weakness). Patients who have experienxced a trauma like whiplash or other spinal disorder may also be good candidates for MUA if they’ve reached “Maximum Medical Improvement” and still have pain or restricted movement.

Not sure if you’re a good candidate? Schedule a consultation and let’s talk. MUA is performed in an Accredited Surgery Center (ASC) with a skilled anesthesiologist taking care of you. Medical specialists or orthopedic surgeons especially trained on MUA perform the treatment, which takes about 30 minutes. Patients stay cool, calm, and collected while in twilight conditions.
